2026 Swim Team Season Is Almost Here!

Hello All,

There is still time to sign up to be a Shark this year! We welcome new swimmers, experienced swimmers, and everyone in between. If you have a swimmer on the team, consider yourself part of our volunteer crew. There’s something for everyone, and with your help, this season becomes even more enjoyable. We’ll sweat together, bond together, and have a lot of fun along the way!

At our home meets, we’ll once again have the parent relay thanks to Polly’s great idea last year. It was a huge hit! You definitely don’t have to be a great swimmer to participate and have an awesome time.

We expect the pool to open without issue, and I’ll post our practice schedule later this week. For now, I know everyone is eager for the meet schedule. Summer is almost here!

Please remember: we make it work. Don’t sweat the small stuff. I’m also around town and always happy to help kids who get frustrated or need more specific feedback or skill support.

For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Ro’s mom — aka Janet. Our family arrived in Killington about five years ago and joined the swim team shortly after. Tara, the coach at the time, roped me in early because her kids were aging out, and Arra Derderian helped pull me in too!

Swimming has always been a big part of my life. I grew up in a family of swimmers with my brother and sister, who were both excellent swimmers. I kept swimming because it was simply what we did — and along the way, I turned out not to be too bad myself. I began teaching swim lessons and training lifeguards as a teenager and continued throughout many of my summer breaks while teaching.

Over the years, I’ve taught and coached swimmers ages 2–18, as well as adults, teens, and children with disabilities. I truly believe we all can swim!

Our whole family is all in for the Sharks. You’ll see Greg — my behind-the-scenes partner helping with tech and officiating — along with countless other volunteers who make this team possible. Because of everyone’s help, this works.

Most importantly, this team is about our kids and our community. We learn to swim to stay safe, to be part of a team, and to enjoy a lifelong sport. Some swimmers may go on to compete at higher levels, while others may simply enjoy being part of the Sharks each summer. Every path is valuable, and all of it works for us as the Killington Sharks!

*Please note I work in a school during the day so I'll get back to you when I can. This goes for summer as well. We have a rocking summer school program =)
