2026 Swim Team Info & Practices:

Killington Sharks is a swim team open to all swimmers! Whether you are new to competitive swimming or looking to take your performance to the next level, our team provides a supportive environment where every swimmer can grow and succeed.

We are more than just a swim team—we are a community. We value teamwork, sportsmanship, and friendship, and we strive to create an environment where swimmers build confidence, develop skills, and form lasting connections with their teammates.

To participate in practices, swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards (one lap) unassisted. This requirement helps ensure the safety of all participants and allows swimmers to feel comfortable and successful during practices. Please reach out to the coach to schedule time to swim together if there is a concern or question.

Practices include 2–3 coaching levels, and swimmers are grouped based on their skills and experience. This structure allows coaches to provide appropriate instruction, support, and challenges for every swimmer while promoting safety and growth.

Our practices focus on stroke technique, skill development, and endurance. Summer swim team is also a great opportunity for swimmers to explore and improve events they may not typically swim during the regular competitive season.

We welcome swimmers of all experience levels and look forward to another fun and successful season in the pool!

    Fridays: 8:30am - 9:45am

    Supporting Swimmers Through Disqualifications (DQs)

Workout Days/Times: “Reset” will be offered on Sunday afternoons, TBD

Throughout the swim season, swimmers may occasionally receive a disqualification (DQ). It happens to every swimmer at some point, and it is simply part of the learning and growth process.

To help swimmers develop confidence and improve their skills, we are offering individualized DQ support sessions on Sunday afternoons. During public swim, we will have access to one lane dedicated to working with swimmers who would benefit from additional instruction and practice.

If your swimmer experiences a DQ, coaches will work with them to understand the rule, practice the correct technique, and build confidence moving forward. These sessions are designed to be positive, encouraging learning opportunities that help swimmers move beyond the disappointment of a DQ and continue growing in the sport.

Our goal is to support every swimmer's development while reinforcing that mistakes are a natural and important part of becoming a stronger athlete.

    Family Roles:

(Swim Team Meets Only Work with Volunteers.  There is something for Everyone.)

Volunteer Positions: The success of the Killington Sharks swim team depends on dedicated parent volunteers. This involves becoming a timer or a stroke official. Below are their responsibilities:

Timer: A timers responsibility is to time the swimmer in their race and report it. This will involve races of 25 yards, 50 yards, 100 yards and more.

Stroke Official: The stroke officials responsibility is to judge the swimmer in their race to make sure they're using the appropriate technique. This includes the style of kick, touching the wall with two hands on turns and finishes.
