Our Killington Sharks swim team is a summer competitive swim team offering coaching and technique instruction for ages 5 - 18 years old. The goal of our team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability. In conjunction with the Town of Killington Recreational Department, this "Parent Run" summer activity provides fun and competition for our athletes.
Junior Sharks: Debuting this season, our junior sharks program focuses on the fundamental skills and development area of swimming competitively. To qualify as a junior shark, it’s a swimmer who can’t swim the entirety of the lap lane. Whether its freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, or breaststroke, the Junior Sharks program is designed to elevate the swimmers skills to achieve that goal and ultimately get them to the status of a Killington Shark! If you're interested in this program, please email Griffin Van Niel at [email protected]
Volunteer Positions: The success of the Killington Sharks swim team depends on dedicated parent volunteers. This involves becoming a timer or a stroke official. Below are their responsibilities:
Timer: A timers responsibility is to time the swimmer in their race and report it. This will involve races of 25 yards, 50 yards, 100 yards and more.
Stroke Offical: The stroke officials responsibility is to judge the swimmer in their race to make sure they're using the appropriate technique. This includes the style of kick, touching the wall with two hands on turns and finishes.
